India got off to a great start at the Asian Wrestling Championships on Tuesday when three of the five Greco-Roman wrestlers, including Sunil Kumar, won bronze medals. This is the second time Sunil Kumar has reached the podium at the Asian Championships. Earlier in 2020, there were winners in 87 weight categories. The 23-year-old won with technical superiority after taking a 5-0 lead in his bronze medal bout against Mongolia's Batbayar Lutbayar. Sunil lost to Uzbekistan's Zalgasbe Berdimuratov in the semi-finals.

In the 55 weight category, Arjun Halakurki defeated Dawabandi Mukh Erdi 10-7 in the bronze playoff. Arjun had also won bronze in the 2020 competition. Whereas in the 63 weight category, Neeraj defeated Islomjon Bakharmov of Uzbekistan 7-4 to finish the podium. While Sajan Bhanwal lost to Japan's Kodai Sakurab in the 77 weight category, Prem Kumar missed out on a bronze medal in the 130 weight category after losing to Iran's Amir Mohammadali.
