Three important games have been dropped from the Commonwealth Games-2026. In a major blow to India, host Victoria has removed wrestling, shooting and archery from the preliminary sports program list, while many sports including T20 cricket have been added to it. The organizers have made it clear that at the end of the year some more games will be added.

The subjects included in the preliminary list by the organizing committee are aquatics, athletics, badminton, boxing, T20 cricket, cycling, gymnastics, hockey, lawn bowl, beach volleyball, netball, rugby sevens, squash, table tennis, triathlon and Includes sports such as weightlifting.

Let us tell you that even in the year 2006, wrestling was not made a part of the Commonwealth Games. Wrestling Federation of India (WFI) chairman Brij Bhushan Sharan Singh has said that we will write a letter to United World Wrestling (UWW) in this matter. The same thing happened in 2006 and United World Wrestling made sure it returned for later editions. We will also contact the Sports Ministry and the IOA to help us find a solution to this unfortunate situation. We feel that Indians are being targeted unnecessarily.

Australia has staged the Commonwealth Games on five occasions, with Victoria hosting the Melbourne 2006 Games. The country has also hosted the Games in Sydney in 1938, Perth in 1962, Brisbane in 1982 and, most recently, the Gold Coast in 2018. Victoria also hosted the 2004 Commonwealth Youth Games in Bendigo.
