India's dream of winning the Junior Women's Hockey World Cup title for the first time has been shattered but the team will leave no ...
India had a stellar campaign till the semi-finals but suffered a 0-3 loss to three-time champions Netherlands in the last four. India were unbeaten in the pool stage which included a 2-1 win over Germany. Germany, however, made it to the final where they will face the Netherlands. The Indian team is out of the race for the title but will look to replicate its 2013 performance when it won a bronze medal at Moschenglabach, Germany.
Incidentally, in 2013, the Indian team lost 0-3 to the Netherlands in the semi-finals. The team led by Sushila Chanu then took on England in the bronze medal bout which they won in a shootout. Now it remains to be seen whether the team led by Salima Tete can repeat the history of 2013.
