New Delhi: Olympic champion Neeraj Chopra was awarded the Padma Shri, the country's fourth highest civilian honour, on Monday. The 24-year-old javelin thrower Chopra was conferred this honor by President Ram Nath Kovind at a function held at Rashtrapati Bhavan.

Paralympic Games gold medalist badminton player Pramod Bhagat was also given this honor along with Chopra. Chopra won India's first Olympic gold in the track and field event at the Tokyo Olympics.

He became the second Indian after Abhinav Bindra to win an individual event gold. Bhagat is the first Indian to win gold in para badminton. He won the yellow medal in the men's singles SL3 category.
