Argentina's Lionel Messi, one of the best football players in the world, may say goodbye to international football after this year's FIFA World Cup in Qatar. He played the last international match at his home ground on Friday (25 January) night. He made the audience emotional by scoring a brilliant goal at the famous Bombenera Stadium. Argentina beat Venezuela 3-0 in the South America World Cup qualifying round. Nicolas Gonzalez scored the first goal for Argentina in the 35th minute. Angel Di Maria then scored in the 79th minute and Lionel Messi scored in the 82nd minute. Messi, who plays club football for Paris Saint-Germain, has not had a great year. Messi scored the 81st goal for Argentina in the 159th match. The Argentine team has already qualified for the November-December match in Qatar. The 10-team South American Zone is second in the table with 38 points from 16 matches. Brazil is on top with 42 points. At the same time, Venezuela is in the last place with 10 points.

Messi said after the match, "I don't know what I will do after the World Cup. I am just thinking about what is coming. After Qatar, I have to re-think many things." Messi won his first title with the team last year. Argentina defeated Brazil to win the Copa America. After Messi's statement, it is understood that he will retire from international football after the World Cup to be held in Qatar.
