The Mission Olympic Cell (MOC) of the Sports Ministry has approved financial assistance of Rs 6.16 lakh for Tokyo Games bronze medalist Bajrang Punia for an 18-day special training camp in Iran. Bajrang is accompanied by his coach Sujit Mann.

Wrestler Bajrang will participate in the selection trials on March 24 at the KD Jadhav Wrestling Indoor Stadium in Delhi. Bajrang (65kg) will take part in the trials for a place in the squad for the upcoming Senior Asian Wrestling Championship in Ulaanbaatar, Mongolia.

This championship will start from 24th April. Meanwhile, the MoC has extended financial assistance of Rs 2.45 lakh for Para Athlete (Club Throw F51) Amit Saroha under Lakshya Olympic Podium Scheme (TOPS) towards his personal physiotherapist Ankit Rahodia's fees from March 2022 till Para Asian Games this year. also approved.

This year Indian athletes are also to participate in Commonwealth Games and Asian Games. The Commonwealth Games will begin on July 28. At the same time, the Asian Games will be played from September 10.
