Paris Saint-Germain (PSG) star footballer Leon Messi has become the highest-paid athlete in the world. Argentina's Messi may not have been as successful as one would expect to be on the football field for quite some time, but he is at the forefront of the highest-paid athletes.

According to the latest Forbes ranking, Messi has earned 130 million dollars (about 10 billion 12 crore rupees) from the last 12 months (1 May 2021 to 1 May 2022). Apart from Messi, American basketball player LeBron James and Portuguese footballer Cristiano Ronaldo are in second and third place respectively in this list. LeBron has earned $ 121 million (about Rs 9 billion 42 crore) and Ronaldo has earned $ 115 million ((about 8 billion 95 crore rupees) during this period. Three of the top five highest-paid athletes in the world are football players. Huh.
