In view of the increasing case of Corona in China, the Asian Games to be held in September this year have been postponed. The Asia Olympic Council said that the date of the Asian Games can be changed. When this will be done next, it will be announced soon. The Asian Games were to be held from September 10 to 25 in five cities including Hangzhou in China's Xinjiang province.

Corona cases are increasing rapidly in China. There is a lockdown in 26 cities. The population of 21 crore is in homes. Schools have been closed for almost two months in 8 provinces including Xijingyan, Jilin, Shanghai, Beijing. The cases of infection due to Omicron virus are not decreasing here. There were to be 61 events in a total of 40 sports in the multi-sporting event. This includes swimming, archery, athletics, badminton, horse riding, fencing, football, hockey, judo, kabaddi and other sports played in the Olympics. Many international sports competitions have been canceled due to Corona in China. The 2022 Paralympic and Winter Olympic Games were also held closed doors amidst strict rules and restrictions.

India has won at least one gold medal in every Asian Games except 1990. At the same time, it has always been included in the top 10 countries in the medal tally. So far India has won 139 Gold, 178 Silver and 299 Bronze medals in Asian Games.
