Jyoti Yaraji won the 100m hurdles in the ongoing International Athletics Meet in Cyprus with a time of 13.23 seconds, setting a new national record. The 22-year-old Jyothi from Andhra won the gold medal in the tournament held in Limassol. His national record-breaking performance was not validated due to over-the-air help from the legal limit just a month ago. The old record was held by Anuradha Biswal which she had set in 2002 in 13.38 seconds.

Jyothi clocked 13.09 seconds in the Federation Cup in Kozhikode last month but was declared invalid as the wind speed plus 2.1 meters per second is the valid limit plus 2.0 meters per second. Jyoti had also clocked 13.03 seconds in the 2020 All India Inter University Athletics Championships, but that was declared invalid as the National Anti-Doping Agency (NADA) did not investigate her in the tournament and there was no technical representative of the Athletics Federation of India there. The Cyprus International Meet is a tournament of the World Athletics Subcontinental Tour Challenger Class D.
