The Union Sports and Youth Ministry has taken a big decision regarding the preparation of Commonwealth Games and Asian Games. It has finalized the Annual Calendar of Training and Competitions (ACTC) for 33 sports disciplines and has earmarked Rs 259 crore for it. It will also provide assistance to various National Sports Federations (NSFs).

Out of this, Rs 190 crore will be spent on training, equipment and support staff of athletes for Commonwealth Games and Asian Games. This budget has been decided after detailed discussions with 33 NSFs. The Commonwealth Games will be held in Birmingham in August this year and the Asian Games in September this year in Guangzhou, China.

The ministry has taken care of all those things in consultation with the NSF, so that the athletes do not lack in preparation for these two big games to be held this year. Union Sports Minister Anurag Thakur said that the Central Government has taken full care of the training of the players and their matches.

He said that money will not become a hindrance in the preparation of the athletes. Whenever the players and support staff are in need, they will be helped so that they can win medals for the country.
