Jammu and Kashmir PoliceConstable Rahul Sharma is giving free training to local children of fencing games in Ghagwal and Samba these days. This international level player is giving free training to local children since 2008.

Rahul Sharma was recruited as SPO in the police under sports quota in the year 2020. In the year 2022, the Jammu and Kashmir Police made him a constable under the sports quota. In the year 2020, Rahul Sharma participated in the South Asian Games on behalf of Jammu and Kashmir Police, in which he brought glory to the country by winning a silver medal. Rahul is playing this game since 2007, in which he also participated in National Games 12 times and brought laurels to Jammu and Kashmir Police by winning 4 medals. In this he won 2 Rajak medals and 2 bronze medals. Rahul is presently a part of the center team of Jammu and Kashmir Police due to his good sports performance. Rahul Sharma has been teaching local children free of cost for the last 15 years. He has around 90 children taking training in fencing in Ghagwal. Rahul told that he wishes that the children of the border village of Samba should choose this game. He told that the children here have a lot of talent. All they need is direction. He said that training is being given to all of them free of cost.

He told that we request the Government and the Sports Council Department to provide kits to these children so that these children can learn this game well. He told that this game is completely new for these children. Earlier these children used to refuse to learn this game, but now the number of children is gradually increasing. He told that I feel proud that out of the children I have taught, close to 70 children have performed their good game at the state level. 17 children played at national level and out of which 4 brought laurels to Samba district by winning medals. Children who have played up to the national level: Player Dikshant Sharma told that I have been learning this game for the last 5 years. I learned from here and played till national level. We are still working hard and we want to go ahead and play at international level and bring glory to our district as well as Jammu and Kashmir. Another girl told that I have also learned from Rahul ji and I also wish to go and perform a good game. I will illuminate the name of my Guru Rahul ji. He told that if Rahul ji did not teach us people for free, then we would never have been able to learn it because for this we had to go to Jammu and the coaches who taught there would also take money from us. And we also had to pay for commuting. We thank Rahul ji for taking this initiative and today all of us children have reached this point.
