Ahmedabad: Prime Minister Narendra Modi said that the lack of transparency in the selection of players is now a thing of the past. He said during the inauguration of the 11th 'Khel Mahakumbh', an annual sports competition organized by the Government of Gujarat. The PM said that today youth can take up sports related professions like coaching and physiotherapy.

He said that like nepotism in politics, there was a lack of transparency while selecting the players. Because of this the talent of our players was getting wasted. PM Modi said that players had to deal with such difficulties in their entire lives.

PM Narendra Modi said that now the situation has changed and the players are now touching the sky. Players are getting success. The brilliance of gold and silver medals is increasing the confidence of our youth.

The PM said that India won 7 medals in Tokyo Olympics and 19 medals in Paralympics. This is just the beginning and India is not going to back down, India will not get tired. He said that the day is not far when we will win many gold medals. He said that this year a record 55 lakh participants from the state have registered for the Khel Mahakumbh. This initiative was started when he was the Chief Minister of the state.
